Thruhose feeder
Water comes out of holes between entry nozzle and orange control head
This is the non return valve to ensure feed solution does not enter the water system. This only happens when the flask is filling with water (10-15 seconds) and under certain water pressures. If it continues the rubber valve may be missing. Have feeder returned and replace. It cannot be repaired.
Which hole in the feeder flask should I fill through.
There are two ways of opening it. Fill the pot though the smaller one which has two o ring seals. The larger hole between the clear flask and the grey shoulder is permanently sealed.
The feed flask still fills up with water even though I have it turned to setting 0.
There is no cause for concern. This is caused by water entering the exit hole and displacing the air in the flask. No feed will be dispensed.
Water leaks from between the hose and connector
Either it is not tightened on fully, or wrong hose pipe is being used. i.e. the wall thickness of the pipe is too thin. Tighten or increase wall thickness artificially by winding tape around the end.
ThruHose feeder does not dilute.
Flask on wrong way round - alter so that arrow on flask matches water flow. Setting on control dial too low. Turn it up! Water pressure/flow too low to work effectively. Wait until water pressure increases or arrange for pipe with better water flow. Water stop connector is reducing the flow through the feeder in low pressure areas. Remove small o ring on the torpedo and slide torpedo out. Not having this facility will not affect the ThruHose feeders operation.
What are the horizontal and vertical lines on the flask.
These are both devices to strengthen the flask which has to stand very high water pressures. The horizontal marks have nothing to do with the levels of plant food to fill to.
Why do instructions say to only fill plant food and other feeds to 250g.
Because of the composition of most feeds (i.e. very concentrated) only need to put 250g in. Also there is an increased risk of the powder clogging up. The lawn food dissolves more quickly and as such can be filled to the top.
The bowl has broken
Either it has been used in a highly pressurised system, i.e. not the mains water system or it has been dropped or otherwise abused. If the shoulder has cracked then the whole feeder flask will be replaced free of charge
Male/male connector comes out or is missing.
The ThruHose is a modular system and as such it is designed to come out. If it was missing on purchase then replace free of charge.
Why are the numbers on the dial so close together
It is designed so that the o setting was a long way from any feed settings to avoid diluting mistakenly. It needs a positive turn to start diluting.
Will I get different feed strengths if the water flow changes
No. The ThruHose will dilute feeds proportionately to the amount of water flowing through it. However if water pressures are very low (under 5 psi) the stirring and dissolving action can be reduced which will reduce the concentration. Turn up the setting to compensate.
How do I know when it has finished feeding.
With plant and other Phostrogen feeds feeding has finished when all the crystals have gone from the flask. For lawn feeds it has finished after its allotted feeding time (20 min.)
Water leaks out from between the head and flask
Not screwed on tightly enougho rings missing - replace free of charge.
Can I leave plant food in the flask
Yes, as long as the powder is covered in water. If necessary give the powder a quick stir before using again.
Can I leave the ThruHose out all year.
Even though it is constructed of very strong plastic, if water freezes in it the seals can be damaged irreparably. Hence need to protect from frost.
How do I calculate where to cut my hose
Enough to allow pipe to go between tap and flask without stretching the pipe.
One of the male connectors has detached from the feeder
This is designed to do that, allowing different connecting types.
Can I use the ThruHose with other feeds
The ThruHose is designed to work optimally with Phostrogen Feeds. It will work with some other soluble feeds but there can be no guarantee of what strength it will feed at. Do not use with liquid feeds the concentration in the water flow will drop rapidly
The top of the pot blows off when under pressure.
Caused by leaving system switched on under high pressure. Supply an o ring flange. The threading system is being redesigned to ensure close fitting for the next season. If no cure then refund.
