The Sentry Palm grows quite slowly up to about 30 feet tall (18 m)
with a spread of 15 feet in diameter (4m) and can tolerate a
small degree of frost. It is a plant that can grow comfortably in
low humidity conditions like the area I live in, Johannesburg South
Africa, where minimum annual temperatures normally not lower than
28F (-2C).
The plant will grow happily light shade to medium shade. The Sentry Palm has both male and female flowers on the same inflorescence (a characteristic arrangement of flowers on a stem).
Leaves are about 3 feet long and fruit which is yellowish green and turns brownish as it ripens.
