Sentry palm The Sentry Palm grows quite slowly up to about 30 feet tall (18 m) with a spread of 15 feet in diameter (4m)  and can tolerate a small degree of frost. It is a plant that can grow comfortably in low humidity conditions like the area I live in, Johannesburg South Africa, where minimum annual temperatures normally not lower than 28F (-2C).

The plant will grow happily light shade to medium shade. The Sentry Palm has both male and female flowers on the same inflorescence (a characteristic arrangement of flowers on a stem).

Leaves are about 3 feet long and fruit which is yellowish green and turns brownish as it ripens.
