Prunus Laurocerasus, English Laurel or Cherry Laurel is and
evergreen shrub or tree. It is wide spreading and has dense foliage.
Its leaves are alternate, simple and between 5-15 cm long (2
to 6 inches). English laurel leaves are a shiny medium to dark green
with new buds being a much lighter light green. Whilst not known as
a flowering shrub English laurel does produce springtime white and
scented flowers about 6mm wide. After flowering the shrub produces
clusters (technical word is racemes) of purple, almost black berry
fruit of diameter around 1.3 cm.
