Mounted 28" (71cm) to 39" (99cm) above the plants produces a lighting level of 8,000 to 4,000 Lux over an approx. area of 1m2 to 1.5m2 respectively.
Plants need the correct light spectrum to produce healthy growth. Use artificial lighting to supplement daylight to increase the irradiance level for photosynthesis (this is reduced in winter by cloud cover & the height of the sun), increase day length (greatly shortened in winter), substitute for daylight in a dark room & force plant growth.
